Welcome!

April 16, 2009 by Tristan Strangebrew

Welcome to “A Rent-Boy Named…” © . This is the honest and heartfelt story of a boy who found himself homeless on L.A.’s Sunset Strip in 1969 and 1970. Look for the chapters under the page listing on the right starting with 9001.

This is the story’s third site. We bring with us 1.6 million hits and over 2 million chapters read. The chapters are short, published unedited and as they are written, a sort of crash-bang writing style.

Sorry For The Delay…

December 1, 2009 by Tristan Strangebrew

Like a lot of you I’ve been struggling to keep the bills paid. I just haven’t had a lot of time nor the inspiration to write recently. I’ll get back to it shortly. Thanks for hanging in there.

Cheers Tristan

Vanityteen… A Fashion/Culture Mag…

November 19, 2009 by Tristan Strangebrew

The current issue (#5) publishes a short story by me. Its an altered excerpt from chapter 24 of “A Rent-Boy Named…” They do some cutting edge photography and fashion reporting as well. I believe its created in France with collaboration from Spain and elsewhere. My short story entitled “The End Of Summer” is on pages 30/31…

Woah! So Here We Are At Chapter 110….

June 18, 2009 by Tristan Strangebrew

Following are some Rent-Boy facts:

Nearly one year of writing and 3 different blog-homes.

Just over 1.5 million hits and 2 million chapters read.

Over 260,000 words written.

In total Rent-Boy has recieved over 2,000 comments and just over 2,000 e-mails.

Many linking bloggers have come and gone, I just hope they are all ok. Rent-Boy sends some 400 hits a day to linked blogs.

One half-dozen assorted publishers, screenwriters, attorneys and the like have contacted me. None have said the right things.

$270.00 in contributions brought in. Thats $1.00 an hour writing time. $100.00 paid forward to “The Little Red Wagon Foundation”, (Check out the thankyou card that Zach sent on the home page). That drops the authors pay to about 60 cents an hour, hmmm I do need to find work.

100% of Rent-Boy readers are smarter, taller and better looking than average, and all of them are good, kind souls.

Paying It Forward

May 22, 2009 by Tristan Strangebrew

Dear faithful readers, due to suggestions from many of you, i have added a donate link. Although i never expected the story to go as far as it has, i now have over 250 hours of work invested in it. The story averages around 10,000 chapter reads a day and i’m working on finding avenues with which to publish the story in book form.

Set-up costs for making the story “publisher ready” include artwork, printing, mailing etc., not to mention my time.  So you’ve offered and i’ve added a link that simply says “donate” under the “blogroll” at the bottom of this page to the right –>

A full 50% of all donations to the efforts involved in writing this story will be “Payed forward.” As of 15 May 2009, a total of $200.00 U.S. has been given by the contributors listed below. Today, 21 May 2009, $100.00 U.S. was donated to 11 year old Zach’s “Little Red Wagon Foundation” a non-profit which is dedicated to improving the lives of homeless children across America. Please visit the link below to follow his walk to The White House to bring attention to this shameful and growing problem. Hunger hurts.

The donation was made through Paypal and marked as from”Friends of James and Squeegy.” They’ll never know who the gift was from, but you will.

Thanks and peace to all… Tristan
